Introduce young children to the technique of Box Breathing with this short 4-minute video! Box Breathing - sometimes referred to as Square Breathing or 4-4-4-4 Breathing - is a great tool to calm nerves and ease anxiety! Become mesmerized by the magical hot air balloon while regulating the nervous system. What are the benefits of box breathing? When we are anxious, our breath tends to shorten and become more shallow. Box breathing encourages slow deep breathing, which can help reduce stress, regulate the nervous system, and calm the mind during moments of panic. Watch the hot air balloon travel in the shape of a square. When the hot air balloon travels up the side of the square you breath in for 4 counts, when it travels across the top of the square you hold your breath for 4 counts, when the hot air balloon travels down the other side of the square you breath out fully for 4 counts and then when it moves back to the beginning of the square you pause again for 4 counts. By watching the hot air balloon move you will have a better visual image in your head that you can then recall at any moment of the day when you might need it.
