Do you know Dinosaurs lived around 250 million years ago much before the humans came on the planet?
1. The word Dinosaur means terrible lizard and its thought that Dinosaurs evolved from reptiles.
2. Dinosaurs came around 245 to 65 million years ago when the Earth was one giant mass called Pangea. This period was called Mesozoic Era
3. The Mesozoic Era is divided into 3 periods
a. Triassic Period – which was about 245 to 208 million years ago. It was during this period that small dinosaurs such as Coelophysis and Staurikosaurus trod the Earth.
b. Jurassic Period – which was about 208 to 146 million years ago. This was the period when dinosaurs flourished. As the continents began to break and climate changed, many plants and animals came into being. Dinosaurs were the dominant land animals. Diplodocus, Brachiosaurus, Allosaurus and Stegosaurus were in abundance in this period.
c. Cretaceous Period which was about 146 to 65 million years ago, was the last of Mesozoic era. Tyrannosaurus rex, Giganotosaurus , Triceratops were among the famous dinosaurs of this time. During this period, Dinosaurs became extinct
