Do you have any restrictions on teaching methods that can be used in videos?

Different teachers have different methods – and different children learn at a different pace – so we're happy to consider videos that use a variety of teaching methods. Our videos use a wide variety of ways to engage with kids, from graphics and puppets to dancing and rapping!

Tell me more about Highbrow's approval process. How do you judge if a video is suitable or not?

The first thing we look for is a video's educational value – even if a clip is brilliantly produced and fun to watch, if it doesn't teach kids anything interesting or informative it won't be suitable for Highbrow.

We also need to be sure our videos are suitable for a young audience. Any videos with adult themes or advertisements will be rejected, and only videos we believe are suited to kids under the age of 13 will be approved.

Finally, we want to show videos that are unique and offer a meaningful choice to our users.

    Do you consider 'edutainment' videos?

While we recognize the value of edutainment, we prefer videos that place a stronger focus on teaching rather than entertainment. But while we're not able to post videos that are purely for entertainment purposes – we reckon kids get enough of that already! – we love videos that make learning fun, and strike a balance between engaging young minds and inspiring them.

What can I teach on Highbrow?

We'll consider almost any topic. So long as your videos enhance a child's real-world skills, we're happy to look at any videos you have up your sleeve.

Does Highbrow work on a gaming console such as Wii or Xbox?

Unfortunately we do not have a TV app yet (though we hope we can get to that soon). However if you are able to browse the Internet on your gaming console, then you should be able to surf for and the site should work just fine.

I subscribed but I can't watch any videos! What's going on?

Don't stress. For technical assistance please email us at and we'll get back to you in a jiffy.

Are your videos safe for kids?

Child safety is our top priority, and it's the reason we launched Highbrow in the first place. All our contributors go through an approval process before their videos appear on Highbrow, and as there are no adverts you can be sure all our videos are suitable for kids. And just to be sure, we have a 'report' button so that parents can let us know if they spot anything they don't feel comfortable with.

    Who makes videos for Highbrow?

Anyone and everyone. Highbrow features videos from celebrities, experts, current and retired teachers, and production studios that specialize in educational content. We even have videos from stay-at-home parents who are burning to share their knowledge with the world.
